Re-do trip wishlist

My Savannah post got me thinking about trips I’ve taken that I want to do again. Obviously, Savannah is on the list, but there are some other places I’ve been that I feel like I didn’t get a chance to really explore as much as I would have liked. Here’s a short list of places I’d like to go again.

This place seemed so cool. I went here on a work trip about a year and a half ago, and I was so excited! I’ve heard great things about awesome restaurants and breweries. I also wanted to get out and do a hike to see the gorgeous mountain-areas. Unfortunately, it was a work trip, and I was stuck at the Colorado Convention Center most of the time. The company I was working for at the time did these trips in different cities once per year, and I usually made a point to fill up any spots of free time with seeing the city. This time, the weather wasn’t great, and it was just tough to find enough time to do anything.

On my next trip, I’d love to do a brewery tour. Denver has a crazy amount of craft beer, something Birminghamians take very seriously as well. Andrew and I have talked about making a trip out there and also venturing out of Denver to stay at The Stanley Hotel, which was the inspiration for The Overlook Hotel in The Shining. We were Jack and Wendy Torrance for Halloween last year, so it has to happen.

Los Angeles

Right after graduating high school, my best friend Susannah and I went on a graduation trip with her mom to L.A. I am a HUGE old Hollywood fan, and I couldn’t wait to see all the classic sites. We went to Hollywood Blvd., of course. We also went shopping on Melrose Ave. and I held on to the dresses I got from there for an incredibly long time. I might still have one. We stayed in Santa Monica, so there were several mornings that we just walked around on the pier and got breakfast at this cute little cafe. They had the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever had to this date.

My absolute favorite part of the trip was touring Warner Bros. Studio. I got to see the lots where Bette Davis filmed. There was also a great collection of costumes from films over the years, including some Harry Potter stuff. I just nerded out so much.

It was such a good trip and Susannah and I have talked about a repeat several times. We need to make it happen!

I’ve actually been to NYC a few times, but the problem is, there is so much to do! And I’ve never stayed for a particularly long period of time. I went with Susannah at some point during college, which was fun, but we weren’t drinking age, so it still felt like I was a little young to really experience it. I also went last year to visit my sister, Phoebe, who lives there and works at Juilliard like a total BAMF. That trip was incredibly short, though. I think we were there less than 48 hours. I had just started a new job and couldn’t take time off. It was still a fun trip and I was mostly just excited to see her, but I wish I had been able to stay longer. It’s hard to feel like you got a complete trip out of NYC. I’m thinking maybe planning a trip for a week or so would do the trick. I’d like a chance to go to some of the museums and make reservations at a few nice restaurants. And of course, see Phoebe!

What recommendations do you have for these places? When I do get around to going again, I don’t want to miss anything!
